Earlier today I read a portion of scripture in Genesis 19, that pretty much describes how we go back and forth with God when he gives us specific instructions. I was reading that portion of scripture where the Angel of the Lord in an attempt to rescue Lot, had warned him to flee with his family away from Sodom and Gomorrah. God had given the people of Sodom and Gomorrah a very long rope and now judgement was upon the city. God thought about His Son Abraham and then considered Lot. How Kind!

The Angel of Lord asked Lot to escape to the hills, but Lot had other plans, that he thought was easier. He preferred to escape to a city much nearer. His request was granted as a favour…. but ask me why in Genesis 19 verse 30, we see that Lot later went up out of Zoar (where he initially chose to go) and then went on to live in the hills with his two daughters. Apparently Lot became fearful, and decided God’s Initial plan was better. Perhaps it would have saved Lot all the hassle if he just listened in the first place. And this is how we can be in our relating with God. We think we know better. We negotiate, we wrestle. Only to come running back with tail between our legs. When we should have simply listened in the first place.

God sure does always know best!
